Oh sweet, sweet cardigans

Now I realize it's June and the blogosphere is gearing up for summer. But here in the gool ol' Warshington, it's not summer until July 5th (because it always rains on the Fourth of July. Always.) So I'm still rocking jeans, socks, converse and cardigans (It's better then the oh so prevalent socks, sandals, shorts and fleece combinations in these parts though, let me tell ya). So I saw these cardigan refashions the other day and fell in L. O. V. E. I'm going to the thrift store sometime today so maybe, just maybe, I can find some that will work. Wish a sista luck.

What I Wore: Roller Derby edition

A couple days ago, we went to roller derby! It. Was. AWESOME! Now I didn't quite know what to expect as my only experience with roller derby was from "Whip It!" but either way, I knew it would be rough and tumble.

I decided to go with a bit of a pinup vibe for my outfit du jour. Mostly becuase I found this scarf at the thrift store and needed an excuse to wear it!

I also decided to try out winged tip eyeliner and it actually worked this time! Usually, it just ends up looking more like eyesmears as opposed to eyeliner. My brother took one look at me and said I looked like Lady Gaga. Ok....

So BA!

And the ref got pummeled and broke her leg. I think this a sport I'm good with just watching....

And the best part of the whole evening....

These kids followed the mascot around for the whole quarter. It was almost more entertaining then the roller derby itself!

Thrifting Finds

Again, Value Village was good to me. I always see cute vintage sheets on other people's blogs but whenever I look, I find a bunch of Superman sheets with stains from I don't even want to know what. A couple weeks ago though, I found 5! In one trip! What the? I know. Here they are!

I loved the one on the back of the suitcase so much, I went back and bought the fitted sheet version of it too!

I forgot another one was in the wash when I took this pictire. Imagine one more really cute one with yellow flowers.

Now I need to figure out what to do with them. I really like this quilt and I'm thinking some skirts, because, you know, sister can never have to many skirts.

Pinterest isn't currently working so I guess I'll have to do it the old fashioned way. Sheesh. Found here.

Do you have any ideas?

Goal.

“I get worried for young girls sometimes; I want them to feel that they can be sassy and full and weird and geeky and smart and independent, and not so withered and shriveled.”

Hipsters: A Field Guide

*The other day, I was talking to my friend Alison about the hipsters we knew in high school. I realized I didn't know any full blown ones but rather, people with hipster tendencies. That got me thinking, there really are lots of different types of hipsters and thus, this series was born.*

The Music Snob

Profile: Listens to bands so unknown, the band members don't even know the band exists. You see him/her at concerts, in the front but always looking stoic. He/she will never let on that they like the band or are enjoying the concert, just in case everyone starts liking them too. Also listens to vinyl albums because it doesn't matter how horrible the band is, if it's on vinyl, it's awesome.

Tagline: "Would some one turn that noise off?! Mumford & Sons are so over!"
